Three Faces of Autumn

Three Faces of Autumn

Book Description
Over the course of more than seven decades, Charles Guenther has written an estimated 4000 poems, perhaps an equal number of translations (primarily from Italian, from Provencal, from French and from Spanish--as well as from Eskimo, Native American, Greek, German, and Hungarian), and more than 2500 prose pieces.  Only a fraction of this remarkable output has ever been published in book form.

The appearance of Three Faces of Autumn, A Charles Guenther Retrospective, makes it possible, for the first time, to appreciate the full range, depth, and influence of Charles Guenther.  Three Faces of Autumn brings together not only the poems and translations which Charles Guenther has chosen to include but also his "representative sampling" of essays and critical reviews of books of poetry, of literary criticism, of literary history, of biography, published between 1953 and 2004 in a variety of periodicals and journals: Poetry, American Poetry Review, Focus/Midwest, and others.  Many of the critical reviews first appeared in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
